3) Learn to Knit Purl Ridge Stitch

Pre-requisite Skills:

cast on (CO) and bind off (BO)

knit (k) and purl (p)

identify right (RS) and wrong sides (WS) of fabric

New Skills: counting rows

Introduction:

Now that you’re getting the hang of knit and purl stitches, we can combine them in fun and interesting ways to make a pattern with texture. For the previous facecloth for the stockinette centre, we always knit on the right side (RS) of the fabric and purled on the wrong side (WS). For this facecloth, you will occasionally purl a row on the right side (RS) of the fabric to create a ridge made out of purl stitches.
