Blocking is the process of dampening and drying knitting to even out tension and ease the finished object to the correct size and shape.

Basketweave uses illusions to make it seem as if your knitting is being woven in strips. It’s a sort of tiny, everyday magic.

Seed stitch has lots of little bumps and is very squishy and soft. It makes for great facecloths because the texture is really nice.

The checkerboard stitch is made by creating alternating squares of stockinette and reverse stockinette stitch.

The pique rib stitch is a variation on the rib stitch, where each vertical rib is interrupted by a purl ridge at regular intervals.

So far we have been knitting and purling entire rows to create patterns and textures. We can create even more textures when we mix knitting

This stitch is called reverse rib because the “ribs” lie horizontally to the cast on edge.

Now that you’re getting the hang of knit and purl stitches, we can combine them in fun and interesting ways to make a pattern with textures.
